Did you know that the best time to shop winter clothing is at the end of winter?

When a season is almost over, most items usually worn in that season are sold at giveaway prices because most stores want to clear their stock and make space for new arrivals that are more suitable for the new season coming up. They know that if they store the old stock for the next year it won't sell well because by then latest designs will be out. So, they try to get any amount they can from the season's leftover stock. Afterall, most stores by the end of the season have already hit their seasonal profit margins.

 

That is why sometimes you will see an item like a winter coat you bought for several hundreds of dollars now selling at a discount as big as 80% in popular malls. It is irritating to see that. Personally, I get angry when I walk past a shop with the big discount red sign by the window on items I bought there just days ago. It makes me feel cheated.

 

That's business. You have to learn how to shop smart. One way is to target the end of each season to buy specific items. Now that winter is almost over, go to the next mall near your home and check out the prices of winter coats, boots, caps, gloves, etc. You will likely find huge discounts.

 

Following this logic, you will also notice that, many items for the season ahead are usually more expensive because the season is still to come. Many shops are advertising stuff for spring and summer now. Not a very good time to buy those items.
